New Project Detail Page The new project detail page will be easily accessible and will allow you to view all your tasks, appointments, journal items and messages for a particular project in one location. Manage your subprojects by adding new ones, hiding them or updating the names here. You can also manage your project logistics easily by adding notes, start and due dates, status and more. Finally, you can quickly create a task, appointment or journal item right from here with the project already populated. ![]() IMPORTANT: When first using the new version of the add-in you must select the folders for the add-in to search for related emails. These folders will be saved and searched for all projects. Each time you would like to view your emails for that project, remember to click Find Now. This is to increase the performance of the project form itself. Access to your Project Detail FormsA button is available on your explorer toolbar in your inbox, task list and calendar to search and open any project detail form called Open Project. When you click the Open Project Button, you will be able to select a project (not just those that are active, but all projects) and update the information as outlined in the New Project Detail page. You can also access this form for a specific project on the appointment, journal, task, or processed message toolbar by clicking the Open Folder/Projects button next to the project name. ![]() New GTD Options A new GTD Options button is available allowing quick access to Manage Projects, Manage Actions, Update Task Actions and access the Help, Support and Options pages. This will be on the explorer toolbar for the inbox, task list and calendar. Quickly access the About page here by clicking the button to the left of the drop list. The options page will now have a cleaner, easier to use, tabbed layout with sections including General, Defaults, Toolbars and Drop lists. Process and delete original email You can now process a message and discard the original rather than saving it in the @Folders if you prefer. Check the Delete Original Email checkbox on the dialog while processing the message. By default this is not checked, but you can change the default on the Options page | Defaults. Send Option buttons added In addition to the Send, Send and Delegate, and Send and File buttons that were available on a new, reply or forwarded message in the past, you now can Send and Action, Send and Defer and Send and Someday a new, reply or forwarded message. Be sure to change the Send Options drop list before clicking the Send button or set the default for this field in the Options | Toolbars page. Using Send Option buttons on a reply or forward will leave the original message in the inbox Now when you use the Send and … buttons on a reply or forward, the sent message will be processed as desired, however the original email message will remain in the inbox for additional processing. Managing Subprojects When trying to synchronize or simply updating your projects lists, the Update Task Action button will now also update subprojects. Additionally, changing the name of a subproject will propagate through the items to the subproject value on a task, appointment and journal item as changing the view headers. Add email logistics to Task and Appointment body When you choose to include Summary creating a task or appointment using the Getting Things Done Outlook Add-In toolbar actions such as Defer or Action, the email logistics will appear first in the body of the task or appointment for additional assistance executing the item. Relate messages to any task, not just those with the same conversation id When you open a message from your inbox, the related task button will be available to you to attach that message with a task already in your task list. Initially the add-in will present to you the list of tasks that have already been created with the same conversation id (generally the subject line of the message). If no tasks exist or you don’t want to associate this message with one of those tasks, you can search all active tasks and choose to attach the message to another task in your list. Known Issues "Program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?" message You will get the following message each time you attempt to process a message:
We have removed a third party software called Redemption from the action that has caused this message. GTD has the security set to be a trusted application. That covers 90% of the people that use this application. However, you may have higher levels of security set by your administrative team either through the registry or through Exchange posts. We strongly recommend contacting your system administrator with these suggestions for resolution: Add the GTDAddin.dll to the Group Policy and uses the Security Settings form in the \\Pubic Folders\All Public Folders\Outlook Security Settings folder. For additional information, please contact the support team directly at gtdsupport@netcentrics.com. Custom Field UpdatesMany fields have been updated due to some conflicts with the Outlook 2007 field naming conventions. As a result you may have to update your custom forms following the instructions available at 'Using Custom Appointment Forms' and 'Using Custom Task Forms' in the user manual or help file. If you open an item that uses a custom form that is not compatible with this version of the Getting Things Done Outlook Add-In, you will receive this warning message: ![]() Completed appointments still appear in Active Appointments (GTD) view The Active Appointments (GTD) view uses both the GTD Completed field and the current date as criteria for filtering the appointments in the view. However, the current time and the time of the appointment are not considered in this view. Therefore, an appointment is considered active until the completed checkbox is checked and the appointment date is in the past. OL 2007: Send option drop list width is too short The Send option drop list does not display the entire option for Send and Defer and Send and Delegate. When choosing from the list of options in the Send Options drop list in the add-in tab on a new, reply or forwarded message, you can read the entire option. However once it is selected you can only see a truncated portion. OL 2007: Toolbar widths do not update when set in options page The Project, Action and Subproject drop list widths are not responding to the settings and defaults available in the GTD | Options | Toolbars settings page. You cannot update the width of the drop lists on the add-in tab for these fields on an open task, appointment, journal item or processed message. When choosing a new project, action or subproject, the full names will display below for selection. However, once it is selected, you can only see a truncated portion. Custom Task form message displays behind the processing bar window If you are using a custom task that doesn’t have the Getting Things Done Outlook Add-In custom fields created on, and you are trying to process multiple messages using the GTD toolbar buttons (such as Delegate, Defer, Action, Someday, Snooze or File) the warning message outlining how to move forward will display behind the progress bar for processing the multiple messages. You can drag the message window up to read the message. To avoid this in the future, contact your custom form provider or review the Using Custom Appointment Forms and Using Custom Task Forms in the user manual to update your custom forms with the necessary Getting Things Done custom fields. |
